Me and my work
I live just outside Carrick-on- Suir, County Tipperary. I have been involved in woodturning for over 40 years.
All my work is made from Native Irish hardwoods that has come from dangerous trees felled for safety reasons. There is a large variety available and I currently have ash, elm, monkey puzzle, beech, yew, apple, hawthorn, oak and cherry. All the timber is air dried - this takes approx. 1 year per inch thickness.
All items are turned by hand and eye. Each piece is unique, there is no pattern as the shape and form of the final article is dictated by the grain and colour of the starting material. No two pieces are ever the same.
